Hong Zhixiao, PhD Student of the School of Business, publishes research in Research Policy

Under the guidance of Professor Xiao Jinghua, the research achievement "Action perspective on technological change: A triply-nested framework and case study" by Hong Zhixiao, a PhD student of the 2024 cohort at our School, has published in Research Policy (FT50), a top-tier journal in innovation research.

The analysis reveals that technological competition unfolds at three different layers, leading to differentiated outcomes: rapid replacement, long-term coexistence, or the creation of new markets. These layers exhibit a recursive "ends-means" relationship: changes at the outer layer define the ends for changes at the inner layer, but not vice versa.

This research was jointly completed by Hong Zhixiao and Professor Xiao Jinghua of our School, marking an important breakthrough for original research in innovation studies. The School of Business has long attached importance to foundational training and forward-looking cultivation for PhD students. In particular, the School encourages students to uphold insightful vision, an exploratory spirit, and patient perseverance, to investigate fundamental questions oriented to national needs, and to cultivate a proactive awareness of building an independent knowledge system for management studies in China.
